Eric
S. Hartman opened his law office in Long Beach in 1972, following two
years of practice with a firm engaged in general civil practice.
Initially engaged in general civil practice, Mr. Hartman has focused the
practice over the years and now emphasizes the following areas:
Business
(including corporate) Law:
Transactional and litigation matters involving business entities,
including formation and dissolution of partnerships, corporations and
limited liability companies, sales and acquisition of businesses,
structuring ownership and strategic planning, employment and independent
contractor agreements and issues, preparation and review of employee
policy manuals, commercial law (including security agreements,
installment sales, collections), distribution agreements, manufacturing
agreements, buy and sell agreements relating to partnership interests or
corporate stock, other customized business-related agreements,
contractual litigation, and corporate maintenance (including preparation
of minutes, stock transfers, amendments of articles of incorporation and
bylaws, Subchapter S elections, etc.).
Wills,
Probate and Trust Law:
Preparation of wills and trusts following appropriate consultation with
the client; probate of estates, summary administration proceedings,
advance heath care directives, and durable powers of attorney.
Real
Estate Law:
Preparation or review of real property sale agreements, review and
amendment of escrow instructions, preparation of promissory notes and
deeds of trust, partnership agreements pertaining to real property,
preparation and review of commercial and residential leases, options to
purchase and real estate litigation. Unlawful detainers on selective
basis.
Rating:
Mr. Hartman has an AV rating from the Martindale-Hubbell rating system.
Martindale-Hubbell ratings are based on confidential peer ratings by
other attorneys and the judiciary. The “A” portion of the rating
indicates a very high to preeminent legal ability rating. The “V”
portion of the rating indicates very high ethical standards. The AV
rating is the highest available rating.
Undergraduate
Education:
Whittier College, graduating with Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
Post-Graduate
Education: Boalt
Hall at University of California, Berkeley (Member of Moot Court Board),
graduating with Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. Taught Business Law as
an adjunct professor at Cal State University, Long Beach.
